Walk the Line Wrapped 2024 | Our Personal Year in Review

2024 was a huge year for us personally. From getting engaged in Acadia National Park (we’re absolutely dying to go back) to buying a house, there was no shortage of adventures, new endeavors, and challenges to keep us busy. Here are some of our favorite photos from our personal travels and milestones in 2024:

At the start of 2024 we had just gotten Herman, our camper van! We spent the cold months planning some cool trips and getting familiar with our newest travel companion.

PA winters are not for the faint of heart, and we try to spend the cold months getting outside as much as possible. In 2024, this included tons of day hikes (sometimes in the snow), including us hiking the Allegheny Front Trail in sections. You may recall that we had a failed backpacking trip on the AFT in the summer of 2023. Due to a July hailstorm, we had to call my (Gina’s) mom for an evac, but we still got 2 days of backpacking under Levi’s belt. It felt good to finally see the entire 42 mile trail!

We also took Herman out for his maiden voyage! This was a short trip to visit some friends in Maryland, and even though we only slept in the driveway, it was a great test run for our battery system, fridge, and sleeping setup. I remember driving home and feeling so excited for other trips we had planned in the coming months.

April always brings a special kind of stir-crazy with it. When it’s not quite warm enough to fully dive into camping season, but we’re starting to feel the spring thaw. I took a weekend to do my first solo camping trip in Herman (with our adventure pup Fanny, of course). I spent my time working on a few projects in the van like adhering some corkboard to the interior, adding a few layers of insulation, and testing out the build in stove and kitchenware that came with it.

May was a very big month for us to say the least. On kind of a whim, we decided to head north with Herman to a place that had been on our bucket list for a while—Acadia National Park. This was our first experience stealth camping (sleeping in parking lots and praying nobody knocks on your door in the middle of the night to tell you to move). While we only got the dreaded 3am knock once, we both agreed that we much prefer sleeping in campsites.

We spent some time in Portland and stopped by the International Cryptozoology Museum (totally worth the $10 per person) and took in the coastal New England vibes. Of course, the main(e) event (pun intended) for us was Acadia National Park. Our first day in the park was so magical. We drove up Cadillac Mountain to check out the granite slabs and picturesque views of Eagle Lake and the Mt. Desert Narrows. It was here that Levi asked me to marry him, and it was absolutely perfect.

As if getting engaged wouldn’t keep us busy enough this year, that wasn’t the only big decision we made on this trip. After receiving an email from our landlord informing us that our rent would be raised for the 3rd time in 6 months, we decided it was time to buy a house. Over breakfast at a cafe in Portland, I emailed our landlord to give notice that we would be moving out in 6 short weeks. Moments after we had hit send, we began browsing Zillow for listings.

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend buying a house and planning a wedding at the same time (all during our busy season), but it certainly made our summer and fall absolutely FLY by. While I don’t have many photos of us working over the summer (and I won’t be posting photos of our house for privacy reasons), I DO have a few photos of the outdoor adventures we managed to sneak in, and a few of our favorites from our engagement photos.

*If you want to check out even more of our engagement photos, I made a separate post!

With most of our summer packed full, we knew we wanted to plan a quick getaway in the fall. Both of our birthdays are in September, so we try to squeeze in something really special. At some point during the previous winter, we came to the realization that our dogs had never seen the beach before. We were determined to make 2024 the year that we would make it happen for them. In between our insane schedule, Levi planned a weekend camping trip for us on the Delaware shore. We loaded Herman up with our provisions, and made our way to the beach. Seeing Fanny and Luca playing in the sand and splashing in the waves is one of the highlights of my life. This was probably my favorite birthday yet, and I truly have Levi to thank for that. ❤

October brought many more busy days, but I managed to fit in a short trip to Shenandoah National Park with a friend. Unfortunately, it rained the. entire. time. The highlight of the trip was day hiking to the park’s tallest waterfall, but weren’t able to do much more than that. I’m already scheming another trip to really enjoy all the park has to offer.

The rest of the fall was packed full of bachelor/bachelorette parties, family gatherings, fall weddings, and trick or treaters at our house for the first time ever! We snapped a few end-of-year photos on a frozen Black Moshannon Lake, which I’ll share below. If you made it this far, you’re a real one. Levi and I want to sincerely thank everyone who made our 2024 such a special and transformative year—from the clients to our friends and family to those we’ve crossed paths with in our travels. We truly love our lives and the people in them. ❤

We can’t wait to see what 2025 brings! 💍🛣🌲
